This Nebula can almost be seen with the naked eye and definitely viewed with binoculars. Through a telescope is even more amazing. It is located in the constellation Orion. If you are familiar with this winter constellation you will know the three stars that make up his belt. Just below his belt is another cluster of stars that make up his dagger. If you zoom into this area you will observe a grayish cloud. This is the nebula, or star nursery, where stars are born. The camera is much more sensitive to light than our eyes (which become even less sensitive as we age), so hence the beautiful colors that emerge only through the lens of a camera. In First Nations culture, the three stars that make up the belt are described as three braves in a canoe and the dagger as a string of fish.
